2025 Inauguration Highlights

I watched Trump’s Inauguration with interest and relief. The event was held indoors due to the cold and it seemed to work out fine. The mood was happy and festive, unlike Biden’s ceremony four years ago. That one was almost gloomy—as if the Democrats knew the election was stolen, and it was. With Trump, I had the impression that this really could mark the start of a golden age for America.
There were a few glitches. The Bible did not reach Trump in time so the swearing-in proceeded without it, but it made no difference as long as Trump’s right hand was raised…and it was. Carrie Underwood was there to sing “God Bless America,” but her recorded accompaniment went haywire. There was dead silence for a while before Carrie decided to take matters into her own hands and sing it without music and she put in an excellent performance. Then there was the matter of Melania’s harsh-looking boat hat featuring a very long brim. Trump could not get close enough to give her a peck on the cheek. Melania received an ‘air kiss’ instead.

The Democrats made a point of showing up—well, some of them did—in order to take the high road and claim they did not disturb the transition, unlike what transpired under Trump four years earlier. Yet Trump had an excuse—the election was indeed stolen. Mike Pence showed up alone—his wife made it clear she despised Trump. A doleful Pence probably went back to Indiana after the ceremony. I can’t imagine Benedict Pence being invited to any of the balls. If only Pence had contested the election perhaps our nation could have avoided enduring four years of Biden’s disastrous term.

Bill and Hillary showed up as well. Bill Clinton was smiling broadly while Hillary seemed to look rather rough. Maybe she was worried that she was not included in Biden’s preemptive pardons that were issued minutes before he left the White House for the last time. Biden pardoned his entire family, the traitor General Milley, the entire corrupt J6 Committee, and the mass murderer Anthony Fauci. By the way, I heard Milley’s portrait was promptly removed from the Pentagon.

Barack Obama showed up without Big Mike and the rumor has it they’re not getting along. Biden and Kamala were close to Trump’s podium and before they were seated Barron Trump went to shake Biden’s hand. Joe was all smiles, but Barron said something to him that made his face drop quickly. I wonder what Barron said?
Trump did not hold back in his speech. He did not care about propriety and roasted Biden and the Democrats to their faces—and it was well deserved. Trump went on to reiterate many of the promises he made during his campaign speeches, including changing the name of Gulf of Mexico to “The Gulf of America” and taking back the Panama Canal. I won’t post the entire speech here, but in populist style, Trump promised make government serve its citizens instead of the other way around.
Maybe our 47th president can really drain the Swamp this time. Godspeed, President Trump!
