The Slippery Slope of Censorship

During her short-lived presidential bid in 2020, Kamala Harris said social media companies allowed millions of people to speak “without any level of oversight or regulation and it has to stop.”
This echoes what Hillary Clinton has long been saying. In the past she has demanded that the Internet have an ‘editor.’ That god-like editor being her globalist, collectivist masters of course. Hillary wants a ‘controllable environment’ where the public hears what it is ‘supposed to believe.’

Kamala’s running mate, Governor Walz, is on the same page and said there is “no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech.” The phrase hate speech is key. Hate speech sounds ominous and scary. I used to think it meant threats of murder and spreading libel and slander. Yet to the Democrats it simply means anyone’s speech that’s not aligned with their own agenda. Another buzzword they are using these days is ‘misinformation,’ which can be applied to nearly anyone’s opinion that they don’t like.
Here’s what the climate change barker and globalist John Kerry had to say,
“The dislike of and anguish over social media is just growing and growing. It is part of our problem, particularly in democracies, in terms of building consensus around any issue. It’s really hard to govern today. You can’t — the referees we used to have to determine what is a fact and what isn’t a fact have kind of been eviscerated, to a certain degree. And people go and self select where they go for their news, for their information. And then you get into a vicious cycle.”
The former Secretary State wants to ‘govern’ you but our free speech is interfering with that!Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) of 1996 is a law that protects online platforms from legal liability for the content posted by users. Many Democrats such as Harris, Clinton, and Kerry want the law removed and the content responsibility placed on the social media site owners so they can be either sued out of existence or be forced to censor their users. Hillary would be happy to shut down the free speech occurring at Musk’s ‘X.’
Hillary wants free speech repealed and here is a quote telling us that outright:“We should be, in my view, repealing something called Section 230, which gave, you know, platforms on the internet immunity because they were thought to be just pass-throughs. That they shouldn’t be judged for the content that is posted. But we now know that that was an overly simple view. That if the platforms, whether it’s Facebook, or Twitter, X, or Instagram, or TikTok, whatever they are, if they don’t moderate and monitor the content we lose total control….
We need to remove the immunity from liability and we need to have guardrails. We need regulation.”

Who exactly is this ‘we,’ Hillary?
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook and Meta, already engaged in that kind of widespread censorship when he shadow banned and outright banned Trump supporters and the Hunter Biden damaging laptop story, thus committing election interference. We at GrrrGraphics were later permanently banned on Facebook for posting conservative cartoons. Then, earlier this year, Zuckerberg made a groveling apology to Congress and claimed the Biden Administration forced him to censor any satire and opposing views related to Covid 19, yet now we hear he’s back to his old tricks by delegating positive Trump posts to an algorithmic purgatory.
The common theme among Democrats is free speech must be kept carefully controlled to protect our democracy. That’s an oxymoronic thing to say.
